Labour election landslide predicted

Gordon Brown has been given a fresh boost after a poll gave him enough support from voters to secure a landslide general election victory.

The YouGov survey for the Daily Telegraph showed Labour maintaining its eight-point lead over the Tories, by 41% to 33%, from last month.

The findings will contribute to speculation that the Prime Minister will call a snap election in the autumn.

They will also increase the pressure on Conservative leader David Cameron as well as Liberal Democrat chief Sir Menzies Campbell, whose party's support slipped two points to 14%.

If realised in an election, Labour's lead in the poll would be enough to give Mr Brown a Commons majority of more than 100 seats and a huge mandate in the next Parliament.

YouGov surveyed 2,266 adults.
