Labour Party 'has lost its way'

Gordon Brown is leading a Government that has "lost its way" and "lost its values", Plaid Cymru leader Ieuan Wyn Jones said.

The day after the Prime Minister launched a much-anticipated £1 billion energy package, Mr Jones accused Labour of failing to do enough to help people through the tough times.

The Deputy First Minister told his party conference in Aberystwyth that 1,500 people would die in Wales this year because they could not afford to heat their homes.

"What sort of Government allows this to happen?" Mr Jones said in a speech to Plaid members.

"What sort of Labour Government is Gordon Brown leading by now?

"A Government which has not only lost its way, but a Government which has lost its principles and its values."
