Langham appeals child porn sentence

Actor Chris Langham has launched an appeal against his 10-month sentence for downloading child pornography.

Papers were lodged with the Court of Appeal on Tuesday, a court official has confirmed.

The 58-year-old Bafta-award winning actor was found guilty of 15 counts of making an indecent photograph of a child at Maidstone Crown Court last month.

Langham claimed he was researching a paedophile character for a television drama he was writing and said he was trying to make sense of the sexual abuse he suffered as a child.

The jury cleared him of having sex with an underage girl.

He had denied all the charges.

The actor, a father-of-five who lives in Cranbrook, Kent, is well known for his starring role in the television drama The Thick Of It.

Langham is due to be released early in the new year.
