Lindsay family in new email appeal

The family of a British girl found dead in Japan have launched a new campaign to track down the man suspected of her killing.

Lindsay Ann Hawker, 22, from Brandon near Coventry, was found dead in a bath filled with sand on a balcony in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo, in March.

Her body was found in 28-year-old Tatsuya Ichihashi's flat, but he fled before he could be arrested.

The BBC reports that Miss Hawker's parents are sending an email around the world which will carry a picture of their daughter and Mr Ichihashi.

The email is titled Don't forget Lindsay Hawker and asks the reader for help to catch her killer and to forward it to as many people as possible.

It outlines the manner of Miss Hawker's death and says a "gaping hole" has been left in in the lives of her family and boyfriend.

"Lindsay's family are heartbroken by her brutal death and above all they want justice for Lindsay, who didn't deserve to die in this way," the emails reads.

Miss Hawker had travelled to Japan to teach English as a foreign language and Mr Ichihashi had reportedly asked her for English lessons a week before her death.

He fled his apartment when police arrived to investigate him, losing his shoes and a rucksack in a chase.

The Hawker family said they had received an email from Japanese police saying that at the time they went to Mr Ichihashi's flat there was no evidence suggesting they should arrest him as it was a missing person inquiry.
