Man, 25, shot dead in street

A 25-year-old man shot dead in the street has been named by police as Daniel Keatinge.

Police were called to Formosa Road, Fazakerley, Liverpool, at around 7.30pm on Friday night after residents reported hearing several gunshots.

Officers found Mr Keatinge collapsed and suffering a number of gunshot wounds.

After being treated by paramedics at the scene Mr Keatinge, of Higher Lane, Fazakerley, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Merseyside Police said the motive for the shooting remains unclear.

Teams of officers have converged on the Fazakerley area and are conducting house to house inquiries and high visibility patrols.

The spot where the murder took place, next to a semi-detached house, remains sealed off as forensic examinations take place.

A police spokeswoman has urged witnesses to call the Merseyside Police gun crime hotline on 0800 458 1211 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
