Man charged with care worker murder

Father-of-three Philip Ellison, 47, was knifed repeatedly at a house in Preston, Lancashire, on April 7.

The premises in Glebe Close, Fulwood, are managed by the local authority for people who need care while living in the community.

Lancashire Police said Robert Searle, of Glebe Close, Preston, was charged by detectives and will appear at Preston Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Officers found Mr Ellison, originally from Pakistan, inside the two-storey house with several stab wounds.

The married man, from Penwortham, who had three sons, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Ellison was employed by Lancashire County Council as a social worker in adult care for eight years.
