Man charged with terror offences

A man has been charged with four offences under the Terrorism Act, police said.

Martin Paul Gilleard, 31, from Goole, East Yorkshire, was arrested in Dundee on Saturday on suspicion of offences under the Terrorism Act.

He is due to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates Court charged with preparation of terrorist acts, possession of material for terrorist purposes, collection or possession of information useful in the preparation of an act of terrorism and possession of live ammunition.

Potentially explosive material was seized from a house in the centre of the East Yorkshire town on Wednesday last week.

The immediate area was cordoned off while a search was carried out.

A second man, also 31 and from Goole, was released without charge on Monday.

He was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Terrorism Act on Wednesday last week.
