Man charged with terror offences

A man has been charged with terror offences after being arrested at a railway station.

Police discovered a suspected explosive device when they searched a man at Lowestoft railway station in Suffolk, on Thursday. Bomb disposal experts were called to make it safe.

Neil Lewington, 43, of Church End Lane, Tilehurst, Reading, was originally arrested and charged with possession of an article to cause criminal damage.

He was brought before Lowestoft magistrates on Saturday, bailed and immediately arrested by the Metropolitan Police.

Scotland Yard charged him with 11 offences including possessing two explosive devices.
