Man charged with triple murder

An unemployed man has been charged with the triple murder of a mother and her two children, police said.

Pierre Williams, 32, is accused of killing Beverley Samuels, 36, her daughter Kesha Wizzart, 18, and son Fred, 13, at their home in Fallowfield, Manchester.

Their savagely beaten bodies were discovered by a member of the public at their red-brick terraced house on Thelwall Avenue at around 7pm last Thursday. Post mortem examinations revealed all three died of head injuries.

Williams grew up in the city's Moss Side district but had recently been living in Selly Oak, Birmingham. He will appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Wednesday morning.

A nationwide manhunt for Williams was launched late last Friday night. He called police in the early hours of Saturday to hand himself in. Murder squad detectives travelled down to Birmingham, arrested him and escorted him back to Manchester. He was questioned for more than 90 hours before being charged.

Kesha found fame on the junior ITV talent show Stars in Their Eyes in 2004 aged 15 when she performed Toni Braxton hit, Unbreak My Heart. Although she did not win, she impressed the judges with her beautiful voice and singing remained her passion until her death. The former Parrs Wood High School pupil had just competed her A Levels and had won a scholarship to study law at the University of Manchester.

She had been awarded an A grade for her law A Level and was awaiting results in English and Philosophy. The teenager hoped to become a barrister.

Mrs Samuels, who worked as a nurse at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, was a friend of Williams but the pair had not seen one another for some time. She split from the children's father, also called Fred, some years ago.

The computer engineer was understood to be devastated at the savage murders and was being comforted by friends and family.

Fred junior suffered from dyslexia and was a pupil at a special school, the St John Vianney School in Stretford, Manchester, where he had studied for more than four years. Floral tributes still line the street outside the family's home, with messages expressing the communities shock and sympathy.
