Man dies after street stab attack

Police were called to Northlands Street in Camberwell, south-east London, at about 10.45pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a stabbing.

The man was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to King's College Hospital where he was pronounced dead just over an hour later.

Scotland Yard said they are keeping an open mind about the motive and the force's Homicide and Serious Crime Command is investigating the incident.

Police believe they know the identity of the dead man, but are waiting to inform next of kin and for formal identification to take place.

A post-mortem examination will be held.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman stabbed to death in the street.

Gemma Dorman, 23, of Wandsworth, south London, was attacked in the Battersea area of the city at around 9.20 on Thursday evening.

A post-mortem gave the cause of death as stab wounds, and detectives believe she may have known her attacker.

The suspect was arrested at around 12.30am on Sunday, and he is now in custody at a south London police station.
