Man held over boy's clay pit death

Police investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy who drowned in a water-filled clay pit have arrested a 21-year-old man.

The body of Shane Owoo was recovered from Lunt Pool in Bilston, West Midlands, on September 30 after reports that he had been involved in what police described as an altercation with three men.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said the 21-year-old man, from Bilston, was helping police with their inquiries.

Two men appeared in court last week charged with Shane's manslaughter.

Tobias Davies, 20, of Frost Street, Ettingshall, Wolverhampton, and Christopher Lewis, 22, from east Wolverhampton, are due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court on January 2.

Shane's family have released a statement describing him as a "typical teenager" who loved music and reading Harry Potter books.

The statement has been released through West Midlands Police.

It said Shane also enjoyed fishing and was a "polite and affectionate boy".

He had planned to join the Army.
