Wayne Bryan, 19, of Gorton Villa Walk, Gorton, Manchester, was arrested after Sophie Finucane was shot in the head at her home in Gorton on Saturday morning.
She remains critically ill in hospital.
The area, the West Gorton estate, has been made famous as the backdrop to Channel Four series Shameless, with some of the show's locations, including a pub and a grocery store, close to the girl's home.
Bryan spoke only to confirm his name and address during the brief hearing at Manchester Magistrates' Court.
He is charged with possession of ammunition - a magazine with bullets - on June 11, three days before the shooting.
He is also charged with a second count of possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm and wounding, all in relation to the incident where Sophie was injured on Saturday.
Sue Cairns, prosecuting, asked the court to remand Bryan in custody following the "tragic incident".
The defendant was remanded to appear at Manchester Crown Court on September 1.
There was no application for bail.
