Jamie Blandford, heir to the Blenheim Palace estate near Oxford, pleaded guilty at the city's crown court to charges of dangerous driving, careless driving and one count of criminal damage.
The 51-year-old, appearing under his full name of Charles James Spencer-Churchill, is being treated at the Priory Hospital, where he has been a patient for the past month for an undisclosed illness.
He was released on bail and will be sentenced next month.
Spencer-Churchill will also be sentenced for a number of driving matters of which he was convicted at a trial in Coventry last month.
At the hearing in Oxford he admitted dangerous driving on the A4260 between Banbury and Wootton, Oxfordshire, on January 6 this year.
He also admitted a charge of careless driving and criminal damage in a road rage incident on the A4095 in Oxfordshire on August 22 last year.
In that incident, the court heard, Spencer-Churchill tailgated other drivers at high speed, twice overtook motorist Graeme Kennedy and then stopped suddenly, causing Mr Kennedy to brake sharply and swerve on to the wrong side of the road to go round his Range Rover.
Spencer-Churchill then stopped in the middle of the road, blocking both lanes, ran back to Mr Kennedy's car swearing and shouting and kicked at the driver's door.
The prosecution accepted his not guilty plea to dangerous driving only because, barrister Rachel Drake told the court: "The Crown have taken the view that it would not make a difference to the end result." Miss Drake said the incident was being treated as road rage.
