Men deny petrol murder

Two men have denied murdering a teenager who died after being tied to a tree and having petrol poured down his throat.

Jonathan Clarke, 19, of Telford, Shropshire, and Jimi Lee Stewart, 24, of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, pleaded not guilty at Norwich Crown Court.

Maria Chandler, 40, of Great Yarmouth, did not enter a plea during the hearing.

The three are accused of murdering Simon Everitt between June 6 and June 29.

The body of the 17-year-old engineering student was found in woodland in Mautby, near Great Yarmouth.

Post-mortem tests showed that Mr Everitt, of Great Yarmouth, died as a result of inhaling combustible fluid, police said.

Clarke, Stewart and Chandler are next due to appear before the court on December 11. Their trial has been listed for April 20.
