Middle-lane drivers 'most loathed'

And the hatred persists even though 46% of motorway drivers use the middle lane the most, the survey from Liverpool Victoria (LV) General Insurance showed.
Many middle-lane drivers join other motorway users by saying those who travel in the middle lane are inconsiderate and hold up the traffic.
Others say inside-lane drivers are too slow and outside lane drivers go too fast.
More than half middle-lane motorists admit they undertake (overtake on the inside), while 32% claim to be a considerate driver.
As many as 86% of those who use the outside, or "fast", lane the most overtake regularly while 69% of them claim to be a confident driver.
Only 41% of those in the inside, or "slow", lane overtake regularly, with 56% of them claiming to stick to the speed limit and 10% reckoning they are patient drivers.
Among motorway users, 95% claim to indicate regularly, 81% say they indicate all the time and women claim to indicate more than men.
LV General Insurance managing director John O'Roarke said: "There is clearly a gap between perception and reality when it comes to motorway driving. It seems the vast majority of people think their driving skills are fine and everyone else is the problem - especially middle-lane drivers who are the most loathed.
"If British motorists became more realistic and tolerant, the roads may be a safer place to drive. Our research is a wake-up call to British motorists to reflect upon their own driving behaviour."
