Murdered students to be named

Two French university students found dead with multiple stab wounds after a London flat fire are to be named.

The men, both in their 20s, were stabbed in the head, neck and chest, Scotland Yard said.

Their bodies were found in a ground floor flat in New Cross, in the south east of the capital, on Sunday night.

The names of the two Imperial College students will be revealed by detectives leading the double murder inquiry.

Emergency services were called to a fire in the building in Sterling Gardens at around 10pm on Sunday.

The fire was put out and the bodies found in the flat.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Duthie said: "I am appealing for anyone who was in the area of Sterling Gardens at any time over the weekend, and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious near the address, to get in touch.

"I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone near the premises around 21.30 on Sunday."
