Sainsbury's and Morrisons were forced to recall various batches of the Indian-style bread, made by Patak's Breads Limited, a bakery in Cumbernauld, Scotland.
The risk of glass being present is very low but people are urged to return any of the products they have bought to their nearest store for a refund, the Food Standards Agency said.
The Sainsbury's brands affected are: Taste the Difference 2 Plain Naan, best before 20 Dec 2007; Taste the Difference 2 Garlic and Coriander Naan, best before 20 Dec 07; Sainsbury's 2 Peshwari Naan, best before 20 to 23 Dec 07.
The Morrisons products affected are: Morrisons 2 Plain Naan Breads, best before 26 and 27 Dec 07; Morrisons 4 Plain Mini Naan Breads, best before 24 to 26 Dec 07; Morrisons 2 Garlic and Coriander Naan Breads best before 24 to 27 Dec 07; Morrisons 4 Garlic and Coriander Mini Naan Breads best before 24 to 27 Dec 07.
A spokeswoman for Sainsbury's said: "The naan bread recalled is the naan bread found in the bakery aisle.
"As a precautionary measure, in terms of the supplier identifying a problem, we have asked customers to return any items that may be affected."
Established in England in 1957, Patak's now distributes cooking sauces, curry pastes, chutneys, pickles and pappadums to more than 40 countries worldwide. Patak's is served in more than 75% of Britain's 8,000 Indian restaurants.
