Det Supt Ray Galloway, of North Yorkshire Police, appeared on BBC1's Crimewatch programme appealing for the public's help in tracing the missing 35 year old.
Miss Lawrence was last seen on March 18 after she finished work at the University of York's Goodricke College.
She has not been in contact with anybody since around 8.30pm that night.
Following the appeal, Mr Galloway said: "We've had very interesting calls. We've had some calls regarding a previous relationship. That's a useful context to me but my focus really lies on her current relationship.
"Who was Claudia going out with? Who was she seeing? Who was her boyfriend? Who was showing her maybe some unhealthy interest?"
The detective said any information he received would be treated in "absolute confidence" and he appealed for more information.
Miss Lawrence was last seen 12 days ago near her home in Heworth Road, York, and police fear she has come to harm after meeting up with someone she knows.
Meanwhile, police have warned members of the public not to make donations to a website purporting to help find Miss Lawrence.
The site asks for donations to the "Claudia Lawrence Appeal", but North Yorkshire Police and the family of the missing chef have had no involvement in the website.
