Ms Boyle, a 47-year old spinster from Scotland, has won a legion of fans around the world with her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from the musical Les Miserables, for the ITV show Britain's Got Talent.
She told the talent show she had dreamt of becoming as successful as Elaine Paige.
Ms Paige, who starred as the original Evita in London's West End in 1978, said there had been a huge reaction to Ms Boyle's performance from listeners to her Radio 2 show.
In a message posted on her website, she wrote "Ever since Susan's appearance on 'Britain's Got Talent' my Radio 2 inbox has been flooded with emails.
"It seems her performance has really captured the hearts of everyone who saw it, me included... it looks like I have competition! Perhaps we should record a duet?"
She described the Scottish singer as "a role model for everyone who has a dream".
Ms Paige is not the only celebrity backing the unemployed church volunteer from Blackburn in West Lothian.
Actress Demi Moore said she was reduced to tears by the performance after watching with husband Ashton Kutcher.
After seeing the Scot sing online, Kutcher reportedly wrote on Twitter that it "just made my night".
