Pair released over baby snatch bid

A man and a woman arrested over the attempted abduction of a baby from a pram have been released without charge.

Victoria Sawyer, 30, was pushing her four-month-old daughter Jazmine in Leigh, near Wigan, when a couple attempted to snatch the child.

The care worker fought off the woman and the couple ran away after they were unable to release Jazmine who was strapped into the pram.

The incident happened near the junction of Hulme Road and Wigan Road on August 12.

Both mother and child were unhurt in the ordeal.

Greater Manchester Police have now said that no further action will be taken against a 31-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman who were both detained on Friday.

The force has also appealed for any witnesses to the attempted abduction to come forward.
