Pensioner stabbed during night out

Gwen Poole, 66, was attacked in Llanbradach, South Wales, shortly after 8pm on Tuesday night.
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder by Gwent Police and is being questioned.
The mother of two was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, with stab wounds to her upper body and later died. Police say she had been walking near the junction of De Winton Terrace and Horace Close when she was stabbed.
Locals say a wounded Mrs Poole made it to the house of her son, Ian, who lived two doors away from where she was attacked, before an ambulance was called.
Officers have cordoned off a large section of the village to carry out a forensic examination and conduct door-to-door inquiries.
Phyllis Sweet, the only sister of Mrs Poole, said she was due to play skittles for the Llanbradach social club's women's skittle team and was waiting for a lift from team mates when the incident happened.
She said her sister was due to celebrate her 67th birthday next week.
"She was enjoying her retirement," said Mrs Sweet. "Why? That is all I can ask. She didn't provoke anybody."
She added: "There is no reason for it whatsoever. They (Mrs Pole's sons Ian and Keith) are not coping. You just get numb and it hits you for six."
