Police appeal over missing baby

Police have appealed for help in tracing a 17-year-old girl who has gone missing with a friend's baby boy.

Amy Deadman took 11-month-old Dante Stevens for a walk into Chatham, Kent, at around noon on Friday, police said.

She was seen by another friend in the town centre at around 1.30pm but never returned to Dante's mother's house.

Kent Police now believe she may have made her way to south London by train from Rochester railway station.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Withers said: "I would urge Amy to get in touch and let us know that both she and Dante are safe and well.

"I would also like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen Amy and the baby either in Kent or south London."

Dante, who is black, was in a black and silver buggy with the words Baby Style Evolution on it. A large turquoise blanket may also be on or under the buggy.

Police described Amy, who is from the Gillingham area, as white, 5ft 7in tall, wearing a grey Nike jumper, blue denim jeans and a distinctive pink belt with a silver skull. She has piercings to her tongue, chin and nose.

Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 690690.
