Police probe 'suspicious' deaths

Residents have spoken of their shock after two bodies were found in a home in a quiet residential street.

Police were called to the address in Normanton, Derbyshire, at 3pm on Tuesday and confirmed the discovery of two bodies but have released no further details.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: "Police were called to a property in Moore Street where the bodies of two people were found.

"Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths."

Local resident Ian Stuart said police were guarding the outside of the property but residents were not being told to stay in their houses.

"I've had no contact from the police at all," said Mr Stuart, a 42-year-old civil servant.

"This is a typical inner city street, not a particularly bad area. I'm not aware of anything like this round here before. I've no idea who lives there."

Neighbours have described how a man was seen running from the house "screaming and shouting".

One woman, who lives just a few doors away, said: "The first I knew about it was when I got home from work and saw a man on the floor outside the house crying.

"He was surrounded by police. I spoke to my neighbours and they said they had seen him run out of the house screaming and shouting and asking people to call the police."
