Police to quiz crash girl's father

Seven-year-old Elizabeth Cooke was fatally injured in Blackmore, Essex as she and her brother, Jack, 10, used the quad bikes they had been given for Christmas.
The children were riding behind a Range Rover driven by their father, Gary, 46, when Elizabeth's machine collided with another Range Rover travelling in the opposite direction, police said.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Elizabeth's father will be spoken to at some point in the future."
But police sources said there were no plans to interview him under caution and he would only be spoken to as part of routine inquiries.
Police said Elizabeth was riding a red petrol-engined Pro Shark quad bike. A spokesman said it was illegal for anyone under 16 to ride a quad bike on a public road.
Following the accident, which happened at 6pm on Boxing Day on a narrow country lane, Elizabeth was initially taken to her home - about half a mile away.
Ambulance crews were then called to the house. An ambulance service spokesman said paramedics, who alerted police, were told that the girl had "suffered internal injuries".
A police spokesman said the youngster died shortly after arriving at hospital in nearby Chelmsford. Post mortem tests will take place on Monday, police said.
Police said the Range Rover driver - a 28-year-old woman from Brentwood, Essex - was arrested after police learned of the accident. The woman has been released without charge on bail until December 31.
