Poll reveals anger over MPs' perks

A majority of voters believe MPs are abusing their expense claims, according to a Populus survey.
It follows a string of revelations involving members of the Government.
The poll for the Times newspaper revealed that more than two thirds of voters thought that all or a majority of MPs abuse their expenses and allowances.
It also found 27% thought all or nearly all MPs abused the system, while 42% thought a majority of MPs did so.
By contrast, 20% said a majority of MPs do not abuse the system, while just 8% said that very few do.
The findings will add further ammunition to growing calls for the expenses system to be changed.
On Monday Commons Leader Harriet Harman warned MPs they faced "big changes" as it was reported housing minister Margaret Beckett had been living in official grace-and-favour homes while renting out a London flat and claiming parliamentary allowances on another house.
It followed hard on the heels of the disclosure that Chancellor Alistair Darling and Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon have benefited from similar arrangements.
All three ministers deny doing anything wrong - insisting they were acting within Commons rules - but Ms Harman acknowledged the disclosures were damaging Parliament. She said there would be "big changes" when the Committee on Standards in Public Life publishes its review of the whole system of MPs pay and expenses - which was commissioned by Gordon Brown - towards the end of the year.
