Pressure grows on Met chief Blair

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair has so far resisted calls to resign after his force was found guilty of of serious failures leading to the innocent Brazilian's death.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has pencilled in Thursday to publish its first report into the shooting at Stockwell Tube station on July 22 2005.
This so-called Stockwell One report - the second has already been made public - was completed 18 months ago and handed to the Crown Prosecution Service.
In July last year the CPS announced that no individual officer would face prosecution, but the Metropolitan Police would be charged with health and safety offences.
This process culminated last Thursday, when the force was found convicted by an Old Bailey jury of exposing the public to risk.
The IPCC report, which could not be published until the end of legal proceedings, identifies 15 areas where changes need to be made, according to reports.
But Sir Ian is said to believe it is not damaging enough to force his resignation, the Observer reported.
Former senior Met officer Brian Paddick, who quit the force after clashing with Sir Ian over Mr de Menezes's death, said the IPCC could still criticise senior officers. And he argued the Commissioner had reacted too quickly to the result of the court case.
The Met was fined £175,000 and ordered to pay £385,000 costs after a trial which heard there was a "catastrophic" series of 19 key failures in police procedure which led to Mr de Menezes's death on July 21 2005.
