Probe after three found dead in car

Police believe the bodies of three people found inside a car parked near an isolated beauty spot on Father's Day are a father and his two children.

The man and two children, a boy and a girl both believed to be under 10, were found in a Land Rover parked in an undesignated road near Llanrwst in the Snowdonia National Park, north Wales.

Police said the incident was being treated as suspicious and inquiries were continuing, although they were not looking for anyone else.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public shortly after 3pm on Sunday to the discovery of the bodies in the vehicle parked on a hillside road between Tal-y-Cafn and Maenan near to the A470.

All of the bodies had been taken from the scene and next of kin had been informed, police said.

Family liaison officers had also been appointed.

Police say the bodies are later due to be formally identified. It is believed they are members of a family from Cheshire.

Post-mortem examinations will be carried out at Glan Clwyd Hospital by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rogers.

Police took the Land Rover away from the scene to be examined by forensic experts.

Police say they have now completed house-to-house inquiries in the area.
