Real IRA ambush: More time for quiz

Police quizzing three men in N Ireland over the murder of two British soldiers have been granted an extension keeping the men in custody.

Two men, aged 41 and 32, detained on March 14 in connection with the Massereene Barracks attack have had their detention extended by seven days.

A 21-year-old, also arrested on the same date, has had his detention extended by six days.

Sappers Patrick Azimkar, 21, from London, and Mark Quinsey, 23, from Birmingham, were shot dead at the gates of the base in Antrim when they went to collect pizzas which were being delivered just before they were to head off to Afghanistan for a tour of duty.

The Real IRA claimed responsibility for the killings.

Just 48 hours after the shooting, Pc Stephen Carroll, 48, was shot dead by the Continuity IRA in Craigavon.
