Rescue of young stricken yacht crew

The 60ft Clyde Challenger began taking on water. The crew, aged 15-25, were picked up by a passing ship after sending out a distress call.
Rescuers said all the crew, thought to have been taking part in a Tall Ships race, had been safely transferred on to the vessel named Loyal.
An RAF rescue Sea King helicopter was scrambled from Boulmer in north-east England together with a Norwegian helicopter from a North Sea platform. Humber Coastguard had issued a request for help from ships in the area.
Michael Mulford, from the Rescue Co-ordination Centre at RAF Kinloss, said: "They say they have taken off all 13 and they are all safe and well."
He added: "It`s good that this has ended happily because, 125 miles out in the North Sea, in the dark - it's not what you want by way of a ship flooding as you are an awful long way from help."
According to the Clyde Sail Training Trust website, the Clyde Challenger was acquired by the charity in 2006. Previously known as the Glasgow Clipper, it has completed four round-the-world races. The trust provides sail training opportunities for young people from deprived backgrounds.
The skipper of the Clyde Challenger said the flooding was confined to the ship's galley.
Divers from the Norwegian Coastguard cutter Andenes, which is also the race control ship, will assess the damage to the vessel and what repairs it may need.
At one stage, six different coastguards were involved in the rescue operation, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said.
