Royals to remember fallen soldiers

Members of the Royal Family, including the Queen, are due to attend events of remembrance.

The Queen, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, will be at the Royal Festival of Remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The annual event honours those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the service of their country.

Other members of the Royal Family attending include the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex.

Meanwhile, the last surviving veteran to fight in the trenches during the First World War spoke of his excitement ahead of meeting his "old friend" the Queen.

Harry Patch, 109, from Wells, Somerset, is a special guest at the Royal Festival of Remembrance at London's Royal Albert Hall.

He is expected to meet the Queen during the event.

Speaking from his nursing home, Mr Patch said: "It is an honour to be invited to meet the Queen again. I last met her at a Garden Party."
