Sex-on-beach Britons' bail extended

Two Britons found guilty of having sex on a Dubai beach had their bail extended, their lawyer said.

Michelle Palmer, 36, of Oakham, Rutland, and Vince Acors, 34, of Bromley, south east London, were convicted of having unmarried sex, public indecency and being drunk a public place last week.

Hassan Matter, who is representing the pair, said they were required to attend the Dubai Public Prosecution ahead of their appeal hearing next month.

"Today I took Michelle and Vince to the public prosecution and I made sure their bail was extended," he said.

"It is normal for defendants to do this. They are now on bail until the appeal on November 18."

Mr Matter said he would present the couple's argument against their conviction at next month's hearing.

He said he expected a judge to make a decision on the appeal at a later date.

Palmer and Acors, who have surrendered their passports, were seen having sex on Jumeirah Beach on July 5, hours after meeting at a £60 champagne brunch.

In a statement to police, Palmer said they were simply "kissing and hugging".
