Shot youth 'probably carrying gun'

The boy, 17, named locally as Tarek Chaiboub, was shot on Friday afternoon as he went for a haircut in the Burngreave area of Sheffield.
He staggered outside and died in the street, officers said.
Sheffield police commander Ch Supt Paul Broadbent confirmed the attack may well be gang related and added: "I believe he (the victim) was carrying a firearm."
But Mr Broadbent said he could not yet confirm reports the victim had just been released from hospital following a serious knife attack on him a week before.
Mr Broadbent said he could not formally identify the victim until a post-mortem examination had taken place.
He said a small number of shots were fired in the incident at Frenchies Barbers, on Spital Street, at about 1.45pm.
He said officers were investigating possible links with other incidents in the area, but he could not confirm reports the victim was the same youth who was seriously injured in a knife attack in the Wincobank area of Sheffield last weekend.
He said he did not know if the 17-year-old was the victim of an "execution" but added that he was sure he was the intended victim of the targeted attack.
Mr Broadbent went on: "This is a tragic, awful, loss of life. We are resolved to making sure not only do we find out who's committed this crime and with the full force of the law behind us prosecute and convict them, but also to identify to the community and the wider area of the city and South Yorkshire that this is still a safe place to work, live and visit."
