Six quizzed over man's death

Six people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of a 20-year-old man, police said.

The man was seriously injured in an incident in Hook, Hampshire, and died in hospital. Unconfirmed reports said he had been stabbed.

Three others have been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary in relation to the same incident.

The man was seriously hurt at a house in Holt Way, Hook, and taken by car to Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey where he later died.

The eight men and one woman were in custody in police stations around Hampshire today.

Officers were called out by ambulance staff at 2.39am after the man arrived at hospital where doctors were unable to save him.

A post-mortem examination will take place later to establish the cause of death.

The house in Holt Way and a nearby property in Four Acre Coppice was cordoned off as part of the investigation.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Walton, of Hampshire police's major crime unit, said: "This is an unusual and isolated event and we have specialist trained officers out in the area speaking to the local community to enable us to establish exactly what happened.

"Extra officers will be on patrol and providing high-visibility reassurance."
