Stab death teenager to be named

The name of a teenager who was stabbed to death during a fight is expected to be announced on Monday.

The 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death and four others were injured after a fight broke out at a maisonette shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Detective Superintendent Tony Adams, who is leading the murder inquiry, said that the identity of the victim would be released after his body has been formally identified.

Officers were called to a maisonette in Bembridge Drive, Hayling Island, Hants, shortly after midnight on Saturday where they found the youth's body.

Three of the other four injured people had also suffered stab wounds, according to police.

A spokesman for Hampshire police said that police believe the youth died after a fight broke out between several people at the property. Two men have been arrested and are being questioned by detectives, the spokesman said.

A post mortem examination is to be carried out on the body of the victim to establish the exact cause of death, he added.

Detective Superintendent Tony Adams, who is leading the inquiry, said: "We have around 50 officers working on this investigation trying to establish exactly what happened.

"We are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident to get in contact with us if they saw or heard anything they think may be connected with this murder.

"At the moment though there is no clear motive for the attack but it seems this incident was contained to a group of people who all knew each other."
