Student death unnatural, say police

A Norwegian student whose body was found in a flat had significant injuries to her neck, a post-mortem examination revealed.

Police said they suspect someone else was involved in Martine Vik Magnussen's "unnatural" death, although they are awaiting results of further tests to determine the exact cause of death.

The 23-year-old business student was last seen leaving the members-only Maddox club in Mayfair, central London, in the early hours of Friday morning.

Her friends reported her missing the next day and officers discovered her body in Great Portland Street, central London, on Sunday morning.

Her body had been partly hidden under rubble and masonry in the basement of the privately-owned Seaford Court flats.

Police are now hunting a man of Arabic appearance with whom she may have left the club after spending the night with friends.

Ms Vik Magnussen, the socialite daughter of a wealthy Norwegian family, left the popular celebrity hangout between 2am and 3am.

The night-spot has been frequented by A-listers including American rapper P Diddy and actress Keira Knightley.

Her parents, brother and sister have flown to the UK from Norway to formally identify her body.

The post mortem examination on Ms Vik Magnussen was carried out on Monday at Westminster Coroner's Court. Police said it revealed she had "significant injuries to her neck and that her death is thought unnatural with suspected third party involvement".
