Suzy 'unlikely to be Wright victim'
14 January 2008
Detectives looked into Wright's possible involvement in the death of Miss Lamplugh but said it was "not a strong line of inquiry".
Wright, 50, of Ipswich, was found guilty in February of murdering five prostitutes whose bodies were discovered close to the Suffolk town over a 10-day period in December 2006.
Following the conviction, detectives investigating Miss Lamplugh's disappearance asked to see the prosecution files.
But a Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "This is not a strong line of inquiry."
Miss Lamplugh was 25 when she disappeared in 1986 after leaving her offices in Fulham, west London.
She worked on the QE2 in the 1980s - at the same time as Wright. Wright was a steward and Miss Lamplugh a beautician.
Her body has never been found but she was officially declared dead in 1994.
Wright was handed a whole life sentence following his conviction but has since applied for permission to appeal.
