Talks to avert third rail walkout

Commuters on the National Express East Anglia routes, which include the Stansted Express, are facing their third week of travel disruption.
The National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and train drivers' union Aslef are to get back around the negotiation table with the franchise's bosses.
If no agreement is reached in the dispute over pay and conditions, workers will walk out for their third 48-hour strike at 12.01am on Thursday and will be joined by members of the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: "All the pressure is now on National Express East Anglia to face up to the reality of the rock solid support for the strike action amongst their work force and to come forward with an offer that tackles the pay and conditions issues at the heart of this dispute."
A spokesman for the rail franchise said all sides had agreed to meet for further talks at Acas.
A fourth walkout is due to take place on August 20 and 21.
Talks are also due to reconvene in a dispute between members of the RMT and the Arriva franchise CrossCountry.
Union members are staging a month-long ban on overtime and non-rostered Sunday working. The action includes a refusal to clear litter from trains.
A spokesman for CrossCountry said it was hopeful of coming to an "amicable agreement".
