Teenager charged with stabbing boy

Police have charged a teenager with the attempted murder of a boy left fighting for his life after being stabbed during a street brawl.

The 14-year-old victim was attacked on Tuesday in Southwark, south-east London, after a row with a group of youths.

On Saturday, officers charged a 16-year-old boy over the incident. The accused will appear at Camberwell Youth Court on Monday, Scotland Yard said.

The boy he is alleged to have attacked was stabbed near a student halls of residence in Great Dover Street.

It is believed that he suffered two wounds - one to his stomach and the other to his chest.

He had earlier been involved in an altercation with youths in nearby Tabard Street.

After receiving first aid at the scene, he was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital.

He remains in a critical condition, some five days after the attack, police said.

Officers examined CCTV footage from the halls of residence as part of their investigation into the incident.

They arrested the 16-year-old from Catford, south-east London, on Thursday in connection to the stabbing.
