Teenager killed in street shooting

A teenager has been fatally shot in the street, police said.

Police found the male victim in Marcus Garvey Way near Brixton underground station in south London after they were called to reports of shots being fired at about 10.10pm on Friday.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said the victim, who is thought to be 18 or 19, was taken to hospital but died at about 11pm.

Attempts are being made to identify him.

The spokeswoman said police are keeping an open mind about the motive and had cordoned off the surrounding area.

No arrests have been made.

The killing takes the number of teenagers murdered in London this year to 17.
