Teenager missing in US found safe

A 19-year-old British woman who has been missing since December 18 in the US has been found safe, Santa Monica police have said.

Sargeant Jay Trisler said officers received a tip-off and found Leona Dawn Perryman from Dorset, in the Venice area near Santa Monica.

Police arrested her 45-year-old boyfriend Paul Alfred Atkinson on a weapons charge Wednesday. He had initially reported Perryman missing then disappeared himself.

Trisler says he had moved out of the hotel where the couple had been staying and was living on the streets.
