Mother-of-three Emma O'Kane, 27, died while celebrating the birthday of her partner, Michael Shepherd, whom she planned to marry in a wedding in Crete in 2010.
The tragedy happened as the bottle shattered against a pillar and a shard of glass stuck in her neck, cutting her throat, according to a witness. She had been standing with her sister and other friends at the bar of the Queen Anne Hotel in Heywood, Greater Manchester.
A 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Police said the suspect had been refused entry to the pub by door staff before throwing the bottle.
Ms O'Kane lived in Heywood with Mr Shepherd and her three children - Reece, six, Jack, two, and one-year-old Ellie-Mai.
She collapsed in a pool of blood and was pronounced dead at Fairfield Hospital in Bury, shortly after the incident at 2am on Saturday.
A post-mortem examination concluded Ms O'Kane died as a result of a wound to the neck.
Mr Shepherd, 38, said: "Emma was a brilliant mother to three gorgeous kids. She was the love of my life and kind-hearted. She really was an angel and now my soulmate's been taken away I wonder what we're all going to do without her."
Detective Superintendent Peter Jackson, who is leading the murder investigation for Greater Manchester Police, said: "This tragic incident has left this woman's family devastated."
