Luke Howard, 16, was found dead at a house in Liverpool on Saturday morning.

The teenager, who was from the Old Swan area, was taken to hospital but died.

His parents and grandfather attended Liverpool Youth Court where a 15-year-old was charged with murder.

The mother and grandfather of the youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also attended the hearing.

Angela Rowan, for the prosecution, told the magistrates a post-mortem examination found Luke had suffered eight stab wounds to his back, two to the left side of his abdomen and two to the side of his head.

She said a home office pathologist had concluded the fatal wound had been a stabbing which pierced the abdomen and caused the teenager to suffer shock and haemorrhaging.

Luke's mother, who was clutching a photograph of her son, left mid-way through the hearing in tears and was followed by the boy's father.

Christopher Shokia Eleysin, chairman of the magistrates, remanded the 15-year-old in custody until next Monday, 8 September.
