Teenagers face quiz on stab death

Two teenagers are questioned by police about their role in the murder of a football-mad "gentle giant".

Nineteen-year-old Oliver Kingonzila, was the 26th teenager to be killed in London this year after he was stabbed to death in the city.

Mr Kingonzila, known as Ollie to his friends and family, was knifed following a "fracas" outside E Bar in Croydon, south London.

Two 18-year-old youths were arrested in connection with his killing.

Manchester United fan Mr Kingonzila was a promising, semi-professional footballer with London side Barnet.

A group of around 20 of his friends gathered to lay flowers outside the E Bar which had been cordoned off by police.

They said he was set upon in an unprovoked attack while enjoying a night out in the bar.

An altercation broke out in which Mr Kingonzila was stabbed. He collapsed in a pool of blood on the pavement outside the bar and was taken to a south London hospital but was pronounced dead.

Family friend Dorothy Wadley, who had known Mr Kingonzila since he was a child, said: "He was a gentle giant, a really lovely boy. He had a huge grin on his face most of the time, it's just so sad this has happened."
