Third man held over Jonathan murder

Police investigating the murder of 16-year-old Jonathan Matondo have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of murder, police said.

Two 18-year-old men arrested after the killing are still being held by police.

The churchgoing teenager's body was found in a small recreation area in the Burngreave area of Sheffield on Wednesday night.

South Yorkshire Police said the first of the two suspects was was detained at his home in Burngreave and the second 18-year-old was arrested in Union Street, in the centre of Sheffield.

A force spokesman said: "Police have arrested a 26-year-old man from Burngreave on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Jonathan Matondo.

"He was arrested at an address in north Derbyshire and is currently being questioned in connection with the death."

A post-mortem examination showed Jonathan died from a single gunshot wound to his head.
