Three held over park murder bailed

Three people arrested in connection with the murder of a teenager who was stabbed over a mobile phone have been released on police bail.

Rizwan Darbar, 17, was knifed in West Ham Park, east London, on Sunday afternoon as he listened to music with two friends.

Two youths, aged 15 and 16, and a 20-year-old man were arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning in east London, police said. They were released on bail Thursday night.

The 20-year-old is due to report back to police in late October. The 16-year-old and 15-year-old will return in late November.

Rizwan was in the park with some friends when the group was approached by a gang who demanded Rizwan's friend's mobile phone.

When they refused to hand it over, Rizwan was stabbed.

He was taken to Newham General Hospital but died that evening. His family said they were told he had suffered a cardiac arrest during surgery.

Three 17-year-old youths were previously questioned about the attack but have also been bailed pending further inquiries.

Scotland Yard said the youths are due to return to separate east London police stations late next month.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Walthamstow Coroner's Court on Wednesday.
