Tragic Goa mother returns with body

A mother is expected to return to the UK with the body of her teenage daughter who was raped and murdered on a beach in Goa.

Fiona MacKeown plans to get a flight from Mumbai, which will land at Heathrow at about 6.45pm on Monday evening.

The body of her 15-year-old daughter Scarlett Keeling was found on Anjuna beach on February 19.

Mrs MacKeown has been battling the Indian authorities ever since they initially said the death was an accidental drowning.

She called for a second post-mortem examination which revealed Scarlett was attacked.

Mrs MacKeown plans to have more forensic tests carried out on Scarlett's body when they arrive in the UK.

The teenager, from north Devon, was on holiday with her family, who were travelling elsewhere in the region when she was killed.

Mrs MacKeown believes Scarlett was raped by more than one man. She has made allegations that links between police officials, politicians and the drugs mafia are hampering a proper investigation.

Following the second post-mortem, detectives have said Scarlett was given Ecstasy, cocaine and LSD on the night she died.

They have arrested two men, Samson D'Souza, 28, who was remanded in custody on suspicion of rape, and Placido Carvalho, aged between 30 and 35, who has appeared in court on suspicion of drugging Scarlett and assisting in the murder by that act.
