Two held over stabbing death

Two people have been arrested after a 19-year-old was fatally stabbed, police said.

The teenager died from his injuries after being knifed in a confrontation at a bedsit in Gloucester Road, Edmonton, north London.

The victim, who has not been named, is the 20th teenager to die violently in the capital this year.

Officers were called to reports of a fight at the address close to Silver Street railway station at about 2.30pm on Thursday. Paramedics were called and the victim was taken to the North Middlesex Hospital where he later died. He had suffered multiple stab wounds.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said a 26-year-old woman and 34-year-old man were arrested in connection with the attack. They remained in custody at separate north London police stations.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Homicide and Serious Crime Command are investigating the attack.

Meanwhile, a young man stabbed to death after a confrontation with a gang of men was named locally as Adnan Patel.

The 20-year-old died from a stab wound to the chest after crashing his Ford Focus in Downsell Road, Leyton, east London. Detectives are investigating whether he was fleeing from the occupants of a van who stabbed him in an apparent road rage attack moments earlier.

Paramedics were called as passers-by gave emergency first aid and tried to stem the bleeding but Mr Patel died at the scene.

Four people arrested shortly after the attack at about 5.30pm yesterday remained in custody at east London police stations.
