Two hurt as helicopter crashes

Two people were injured when an Army training helicopter crashed.

The Squirrel aircraft came down in fields near Kingscott, Torrington, north Devon.

Two rescue helicopters - from RMB Chivenor in north Devon and Portland Coastguard in Dorset - and the Devon Air Ambulance were sent to the crash site.

One of the crew members was airlifted to North Devon District Hospital and the other needed treatment at the scene.

Swansea Coastguard said there were only two people on board the helicopter when it crashed.

Devon and Cornwall Police said there was no damage to any buildings but roads in the area had been closed.

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: "We can confirm that an Army helicopter has crashed in Devon."
