Two men charged with hostel murders

Two people have been charged with the murder of two men whose bodies were found at a men's hostel.

Peter Pearce, 29, and William Criethton, 36, have been charged with the murders of Wayne Pearce, 41, and Brian Pallistar, 44.

Their bodies were discovered in Harbour Lodge on North Bridge Street, Sunderland, just before 3pm on Friday where the two men were residents.

Pearce, of Slaley Court, Doxford Park, Sunderland, and Criethton, of Clovelly Road, Sunderland, are due to appear before the city's magistrates' court on Monday morning.

House-to-house inquiries are continuing and extra patrols are being carried out to reassure local residents.

A Northumbria Police spokeswoman said: "... 29-year-old Peter Pearce and 36-year-old William Criethton have been jointly charged with the murder of 41-year-old Wayne Pearce, of Harbour Lodge, and 44-year-old Brian Pallistar, of Harbour Lodge.

"They are due to appear before Sunderland Magistrates' Court on Monday morning."
