The hottest temperature so far this year, 29.1C (84.4F) was recorded in Cranwell, Lincolnshire, on Friday and forecasters predict more of the same.
But the British summer will remain to remain true to form, with the threat of the occasional heavy shower or even thunderstorm ever present.
Temperatures are expected to hit 28C (82.4F) in the South East, and most of the UK is likely to see some sunshine.
Forecaster Gareth Harvey of MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said the fine weather would last well into next week, but warned the sunshine would be punctuated by thundery showers.
He said: "It will be on a par with what we've seen of late, it will be warm everywhere.
"There is a risk of one or two thundery showers today, more so in eastern England and Scotland, but everyone will see some sun and it won't be much different tomorrow.
"There will be some cloud about and parts of the North and Irish Sea coasts might be misty and murky.
"It is going to stay quite warm for much of next week with temperatures in the mid-20s (75-80F) in the south-east of England and low 20s (71-77F) elsewhere.
"It will be more unsettled next week, a lot of people will see some heavy showers and, at times, longer periods of rain."
